Some of your employees prefer the telephone for messaging. Some prefer a desktop PC. Both may require fax capabilities. A voice messaging system such as the Intuity AUDIX LX provides both a telephone user interface, as well as a graphical user interface. This gives users a choice of how to access their voice, fax, and if implemented, email messages, based on where they’re working, their job responsibilities, and which method is most conducive to that moment.
Users can access all of their messages (up to 9.1 hours in a mixed-media mailbox) during the same telephone call over the same universal voice port or by using a graphical user interface. Four channels providing text-to-speech capabilities are included, allowing access to all messages (voice, fax header and subject associated with the fax message, and text/email) from any device, including a home phone, cellular phone, and a PC.
Today’s messaging requires more than just sending and receiving separate voice mail, email, and faxes. The Avaya Intuity ™ AUDIX® LX Multimedia Messaging System provides a telephone and graphical user interface, integrated fax messaging, access to email, text-to-speech, a multitude of features, multilingual capabilities, and flexible networking options, all standard with the system! This complete solution provides an affordable platform that can grow as your needs grow.
The Intuity AUDIX LX multimedia messaging platform provides a low-cost messaging solution for voice messaging, fax, and email access to smaller sites, either a small to mid-sized business or a smaller location of a large business. Written in the language of the Linux operating system, the platform can run on industry standard hardware, which substantially lowers the total cost of ownership and makes it more flexible and modular. Message access is accomplished through both a telephone user interface and a graphical user interface. Text-to-speech capabilities further allow the user to access messages anytime, anywhere.
Every Intuity AUDIX LX system is “multimedia enabled” today with the ability to accept voice, fax, text, file attachments, and email as valid message types. This unique architecture allows for mixing of media types within messages. For example, a user can send an email message with a voice message attached to add clarity to the communication. This architecture satisfies the short-term needs of the smaller location while supporting the evolutionary movement of messaging toward the Avaya™ Unified Communication solution.
The Intuity AUDIX LX platform provides cost-effective sizing to meet individual office requirements. It can support a maximum of 24 voice/fax ports, 500 hours of storage, and 1,200 mailboxes. The Intuity Message Manager graphical user interface application supports a maximum of 1,200 users and 32 simultaneous sessions.

A problem familiar to any organization is that of communicating effectively. As more and more people work from home or from dispersed locations, how do you ensure that your employees are planning and working together effectively, and regularly keeping in touch, when they are separated by time and distance? Also, many companies choose to sub-contract some services such as payroll, logistics or manufacturing to third-party suppliers. How do you ensure that you can act as one virtual enterprise? Audio conferencing provides a simple and effective solution.
Audio conferencing makes it easy to include key people wherever they are with minimum interruption from their work. It responds to business needs that every company faces:
- More meetings but less time available - Increasing pressure to be at two locations at once - Travel restrictions due to limited budget or risks (e.g. terrorism)
As a result of using conferencing, the benefits gained are:
- Reduction in travel, leading to lower costs and less wasted time - Increased worker productivity & personal security - More effective working practices, leading to shorter project times, and supporting dispersed organizations.

UC far exceeds simply making simple and intuitive speech commands to make phone calls, but rather provides the following capabilities as well to users.
- Create ad hoc conferencing that includes selective join and drop capabilities - Listen to and act on voice and fax messages stored on either an Exchange, Lotus Notes or Modular Messaging - Access enterprise directories and databases for contact email and phone numbers - Use productivity tools such as calendars, contacts, and if applicable, Microsoft Exchange tasks lists - Set personal contact rules for efficient use of time and to manage non-urgent interruptions

Today's business climate requires workers to be able to remain productive while working anywhere as they communicate through a variety of devices. Avaya solutions from FTG Technologies give employees—whether on the road, at home or in the office—access to today's most powerful and useful communications tools. The software and hardware platform enables Web-based, wireless, and speech access to applications such as calling, conferencing, voice messaging, fax messaging, and email.
Avaya Message Application Servers provide the connection between the switch and the storage server. An Avaya Message Storage Server stores voice, text, and fax messages separately from email messages but still accessible from an email or Web client to provide a unified messaging solution. Modular Messaging is available to new customers as a full turnkey solution. All three legacy Avaya telephone user interfaces—AUDIX, Aria, and Serenade—are included to save training costs. These interfaces are recognized and used by millions of cell phone and home voice mail users.
Modular Messaging enables users to combine notification features to create Find-Me/Follow-Me capabilities. This makes it possible to offer callers a single number to be contacted by voice, fax, mobile, virtual office, and text paging any time, any place, every day. The use of multimedia messaging allows users to have a single number for voice and fax calls. The use of Find Me allows callers to the business line to still reach users on cell phones, remote telephones such as at a hotel, or virtual offices from that single number. When users offer the option of Caller-Initiated Notify Me, callers can trigger a notification during the same Call Answer session, without needing to locate additional contact information.
Why does FTG Technologies Recommend Avaya Messaging Solutions?
Avaya is not new in the messaging arena, incorporating both legacy Lucent, Octel, and VMX messaging platforms. Building on this legacy and heritage, we offer customers a future with the IP-enabled, open, flexible, and standards-based Modular Messaging solution. The Avaya messaging portfolio is meant to provide customers with flexible, feature-rich and scalable solutions that help them maximize their business. The market leading position of Avaya in the Enterprise Messaging and Unified Communication market awarded to Avaya by Frost & Sullivan and IDC are proof that customers acknowledge our aim and trust Avaya with their messaging and unified messaging installations. |
